Data Indicators

BENCH captures data on approximately 150 indicators. The indicators, selected by members, cover department-specific productivity, hospital-wide performance, resource consumption, waiting times, outcome measurement, plus core and non-core ORYX® indicators.

Un-Blinded Data

Quarterly performance data is un-blinded. Members can compare their performance, by indicators, with other pediatric hospitals. Un-blinded data plus an active networking culture results in the opportunity for true improvement.

Operational and Clinical Characteristics

BENCH maintains an extensive library of characteristics for each hospital and each department, including work processes, organizational charts, policies, and skill mix. You discover the processes behind the data.

Customizable Charts

To foster the quality message throughout the hospital, MY CHARTS in ChartBuilder allows managers to custom design charts. Every quarter, these charts are updated automatically-creating a powerful quality monitoring tool.

We understand that clarifying data definitions is an on-going process. During conference calls and BENCH meetings, discussions on data clarity and definition are regularly on the agenda. Data comparisons are rarely perfect, but through on-going clarification and definition, they can improve.

On-going performance improvement does begin at this granular level, when the question of "what does ‘x' mean?" is raised.

The BENCH Difference

The number of departments and disciplines covered by BENCH is very inclusive, from Admitting to Volunteers. Pediatric care is at its core multi-disciplinary, and each member brings a unique perspective to the table. BENCH works with different groups, either to foster networking, or to capture data on a specific indicator.

The BENCH difference puts the emphasis on inclusiveness, and on-going improvement.
